Selecting an ERP System: Checking Customer References

Posted by Katie Foley on May 31, 2017 2:15:00 PM

A customer reference check is one of the most important steps in selecting an ERP system. You may think that a customer reference is a waste of time because of course the vendor would set you up with a happy customer. However, a reference call or visit can provide a lot of useful information and customers are usually very honest during these calls.

First, it’s a good idea to get some background information on the customer reference. How big is the company? How long have they been in business? Are they in the same industry as you? At Visibility, we try to set up our prospective customers with other customers in the same field so that their businesses have the most in common. An onsite customer reference visit can also be very useful when there is another customer in the same geographic area as the prospective customer.

Moving Forward: 2017 Visibility Customer Conference Recap

Posted by Jaclyn Aldrich on May 23, 2017 2:15:00 PM

After a recent family trip to my favorite place, Disney World, I am reminded of a quote from my son’s role model, Walt Disney, who said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

Our family vacation followed closely behind the 2017 Visibility Customer Conference where each year I have the opportunity to listen to our customers and hear how they are using the VISIBILITY ERP system for their Complex Manufacturing business. It is always fascinating to hear how each customer has leveraged the VISIBILITY ERP system in different ways to help them to best run their businesses.

Posted by Scott Cranford on May 4, 2017 1:00:00 PM

This is the fourth in our industry focus series in which we will highlight the customer successes in a specific industry or niche manufacturing segment. We’ll focus on the relevant capital equipment ERP functionality that an industry or market requires and how an ERP solution can address the unique needs of each of those industries. For our fourth edition, we thought we would focus on a bit of a broader segment, that being capital equipment.  In particular, we’ll focus on custom capital equipment; machinery used in the production of other commodities.

What Is Industry 4.0?

Posted by Jaclyn Aldrich on Apr 27, 2017 10:00:52 AM

One topic that was discussed during this year’s conference is Industry 4.0. This is one blog post in a series of several that will discuss Industry 4.0 – what it is, how you can achieve it, and how an ERP solution such as Visibility helps you achieve it. Our first post will discuss Industry 4.0 at a high level so you understand where it came from and the principles behind it.

So what exactly is Industry 4.0? Industry 4.0 is defined as having visibility into the real-time status of your company’s manufacturing processes. It has also been described as the “fourth industrial revolution”. This idea originated from a project in the high-tech strategy of the German Government, which promoted the computerization of manufacturing.

So what do ERP implementations and marathons have in common? More than you might think!
